After toiling through another contest with the floundering Jets offense, star receiver Garrett Wilson didn’t hold back while discussing the group’s effort against the Chargers on Monday Night Football.
The Jets’ 27–6 home loss in primetime served as the latest example of the Zach Wilson-led offense’s struggles, failing to offer much assistance for a solid New York defense.
After the game, Garrett Wilson fielded a question about the offense’s morale following its latest dismal effort, prompting the second-year wideout to open up about the overall frustration and their continued hope to turn things around.
“When you play at this level and you play on the offensive side of the ball, if you weren’t angry, I would think something was wrong … ,” Wilson said. “This is disappointing, it definitely messes with your psyche a little bit. But, it’s nothing we can’t handle. We are professionals, we’re gonna push through this and it’s going to be better on the back end but, I’d be lying if I said that we were all content with what we’re doing out on the field.”

As Wilson alluded to, N.Y.’s MNF disaster left hardly any positives to hang on to. Despite facing the NFL’s leakiest pass defense, the Jets managed little momentum, allowing eight sacks and going 3-of-17 on third down while failing to score a touchdown.
The offense’s issues were further magnified by the stout defense holding Justin Herbert and Co. to 191 total yards, a trend Wilson later admitted he’s tired of seeing this season.
“I hate coming off the field, looking our defense in the eyes and knowing that we got to send them back out there after a three-and-out,” said Wilson, who logged seven catches for a game-high 80 yards. “Them boys are my dawgs. They come out and ball. They put us in a great position. It’s time for us to start returning the favor.”

Prior to MNF, the numbers already proved Wilson’s point, with the defense ranked sixth in points allowed per game and the offense ranked 26th in scoring.
As the Jets (4–4) still search for answers on offense, it’ll be fascinating what the team comes up as they look to fix the miscues in all three phases heading into another primetime showdown in Week 10 against the Raiders.
