The pair teamed up for Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive” and Minogue’s “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head” during the pop singer’s surprise appearance on Madonna’s career-spanning Celebration tour
The Los Angeles audience at Madonna‘s career-spanning Celebration tour got a taste of Down Under when the singer welcomed Australia’s own Kylie Minogue to the stage on Thursday night. For the surprise appearance, the pair delivered performances of Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive” and Minogue’s “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head.”
“MADONNA 💓 It’s been a long time coming!!! LOVED being with you!!!!” Minogue wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “Celebration Tour AND it is now International Women’s Day …. THANK YOU and LOVE LOVE LOVE.”
Minogue took the stage wearing a glittering shirt that simply read “Madonna” across the front. It was a recreation of the Kylie Minogue shirt Madonna wore at the 2000 MTV Europe Music Awards.
As recently as February, the pop singer has floated the idea of a potential collaboration with the iconic performer, telling E! News, “We would both love it. I know I would. She’s mentioned it before. So hey, maybe.”
And last year, Minogue joked about the overwhelming power she and Madonna would have if they were to share a stage together. “She’s going on tour. I don’t have Madonna’s number but if I was in town and she was in town, it would be amazing,” she told 103.5 KTU. “The building would probably fall down. We’d need to send out warnings!”
The Celebration tour is almost over as Madonna approaches the fast few weeks of the run. The singer still has stops to make in Phoenix, Denver, Dallas, Atlanta, Miami, Austin, and more before wrapping in Mexico City on April 26.
